What are you planning to do for self care this summer? It might not be something you plan like your adventures and outings but I think it should be. Alaskan summers are intense in their own right. We may not have 90 degree temps but the light is out all the time and that can make the urge to burn the candle at both ends strong. Do you arrive to fall tired, sick, burnt out, or inflamed in digestion or body???? Then you made to do some mid-summer maintenance. Scheduled relaxation, slowing down, reflecting, and fun is just as important as the races and the places you are planning for your summer months. Spend your solstice weekend eating gourmet organic meals, spending time in nature at a remote Alaskan lodge (only two hours drive north from Anchorage), practicing yoga, and getting healing body work. There are only eight spots available for this retreat to keep it intimate and everyone well attended to. Immerse in self-care for a weekend. Stay balanced all season.
This spring I was blessed to be asked by Live Breathe Alaska to do a two part mind body educational series on Ayurveda and spring time. Part one of the series combined yoga flow and an introduction to the elements of Ayurveda through yoga postures. Part two is a lecture on spring, seasonal cleanses, guided meditation, and a self massage tutorial.
I have started working with an online magazine called Live Breathe Alaska! I will be hosting live lunch work outs periodically. I will be sure to repost here. This is an all levels class and can be done from a chair if your not able to sit on the floor. Simply leave the sun salutes at the end of the class out. Instead, just stay seated and take deep breaths moving in a way that feels safe to your body
